Community Family Camping Photos

If you look carefully you may see a bit of snow on the ground in a few of the photographs on the next page. It is spring time. Most of the winter snow has just melted during the past few days. The mosquitoes, blackflies and other insects have not yet hatched. The Band Chief has just purchased a bunch of new white tents. He invited all members of the Fond du Lac Denesuline First Nations band to go family camping with him for a week. They did not travel far. They set up their tents only about a city block from the homes at the northern edge of the community. It was just far enough away to be out of sight of the buildings. The advantage of being so close was that if a family forgot something important like a can opener they could ask one of their children to walk home to retrieve it.
