juggler About Packsack.infojuggler

Welcome to Packsack.info. I am creating this website as a hobby from various things that I collected in my packsack while teaching in the aboriginal communities of northern Canada. I hope you find the content interesting.

Some of the northern communities in which I have lived and taught are remote communities that very few people will ever get a chance to visit. One of my original intents in creating this website was to share some of the photographs I had taken in these northern communities with anyone who may be interested or following in my footsteps.

Some of the photographs on this website were taken by my students and fellow staff members. I would like to thank them for their contributions.

You will notice in the photographs of some of my former classrooms that there are lots of computers and computer parts scattered around. This is not normal for a small northern school. Many of the teachers I taught with only had one computer in their classroom. I took a special interest in fixing, replacing and upgrading the computer hardware and software in the schools where I worked so my classrooms tended to accumulate many computers and computer parts. My students had an opportunity to set up and test many computers before we distributed them to other classrooms.

The Character Graphics Artwork

At the top of this page is the word "HELLO" and at the bottom of this page is a sailing ship. If you want to try creating artwork such as this then I would suggest you use a very simple text editor such as Notepad on Windows PC computers. You need to set the font to be a monospaced font (fixed width) such as Courier, Courier New, Monaco or Andale Mono. Now here is the tricky part. You need to try creating the picture by typing from left to right across each line. Try it and you will soon understand what I mean. I usually suggested to my students that they try typing their initials, a short name or a short word such as "FUN" on their first attempt. One last hint. When making big letters such as in the word "HELLO" up above always create the letters to be an odd number of lines tall (5, 7 or 9 characters tall).
